The database consists of six ASCII files which contain all the necessary data for making detailed computations of the prevailing interactions (photoelectric effect, Rayleigh scattering, and Compton scattering) in X-ray photon transport for a wide energy range, from 1 keV to 1 Mev, and for all the elements in the periodic table, from Hydrogen (Z=1) to Uranium (Z=92). The files in this database are the following:

ASCII filename

contained data

file format

PARAM.ASC

basic parameters like density, atomic weight, and pre-computed transformation coefficients from barn/atom to cm2/g

format

MCMASTER.ASC

checked and corrected coefficients from Ref. [1] for generating atomic mass attenuation coefficients for photoelectric effect, Rayleigh scattering, Compton scattering, and total.

format

EDGES.ASC

photoelectric subshell data like absorption edge energy and jump, fluorescence yield, and the radiationless Coster-Kronig transition probability

format

LINES.ASC

X-ray fluorescence line data like the subshell where the line is originated, the line denomination according to the Siegbahn nomenclature, the line fraction into the spectral series, the natural width, and the energy of the line

format

CROMER.ASC

a group of nine coefficients by element, which allow the computation of the atomic form factors for the angular distribution of Rayleigh scattering and the scattering functions for the angular distribution of Compton scattering

 format

PACKPROF.ASC

a hughe file, inspired in the table of Biggs, Mendelsohn and Mann [2], which contains all the necessary data for the computation of the Compton profiles

format

As these files are in ASCII format, they can be easily modified in case of need. Each file is accompanied with a corresponding documentation file (*.DOC), containing last minute information about the data contained.
